There’s a lot about the public culture of French cities to admire: It seems like everyone picnics; Not only are bikes popular, everyone bikes relaxed – no helmets, no fixed gears (literally seen 1 since we’ve been here), no track stands in the middle of traffic, no spandexed out folks speeding by at 50mph. For a family traveling through the country with a 3 year old, the things we may appreciate most are all of the cool public play things we’ve come across – many of them as interesting to look at as any art exhibit we’ve seen.

Amanda’s off exploring Marseilles and the Riviera with her mom while the boys are hanging back at the house. We took the opportunity to eat badly, swim naked (well, one of us), drink Bavarian beer (the other of us), and take the wagon out to the horse trails at the edge of town.
